I kiss dating goodbye quotes adult dating with trustcash
I am reminded of Elijah in 1 Kings: we did no better than our fathers. The film sparked a lot of discussion between us about societal and Christian influences with regards to dating and marriage and the role that sex plays in the whole scenario.
In some ways I feel that the book has been unfairly scapegoated for the failures and shortcomings of the whole purity culture.
I plan on watching this documentary with my older children and continuing the conversation with them as we together navigate this important time in the life of my teens and young adults.
My one critique of the video, a brief 3-5 minute review of the strengths of the book for those of us who still value it and appreciate much of the message.
Josh's ability not only to face his critics, but to examine the influences on his own thoughts and beliefs when he wrote the book is refreshing.
This film is definitely worth the watch and the book is definitely still worth the read We've watched this excellent documentary with a bunch of other Christians and had a wonderful evening.
It definitely sparks conversation about how to navigate relationships in the 21st century.
In the documentary, you can follow Josh's journey, get interesting insights from a variety of different perspectives (readers, critics, experts etc.), listen to his honest reflections and, most of all, think for yourself how you view the various issues raised. For example, the observations that Josh's book was held up as a Bible and that marriage should not be "the ultimate" thing were pointed out several times in different ways, so at some point I felt "yeah I get it" ;-) But apart from that, the documentary was really well-done - nice visuals, good pacing and good camera work. Even the fact that an author was willing to question his own book (publicly) deserves respect, I've not seen this anywhere else.
The book became an international bestseller and catapulted its unsuspecting author, Joshua Harris, into the Christian spotlight.
It is sad to hear that this book was taken as the ultimate guide to successful dating relationships and ultimately marriage.
Perhaps it is this approach to the book, that has been the source of much of the hurt that has been experienced.
"Through it all, through the compost of our efforts, God brings glory." (N. Wilson I thought Josh did a great job of explaining the context of when and why he wrote the book.
I still believe there were and are some very good biblical principles in the book and I plan on continuing to use the book with my children.
I was a young Christian with 1 young child when the book was written and it was incredibly helpful book for me to reevaluate the worlds system of dating.
