[Jesus was resurrected, and accepting Jesus’ offer of salvation cleanses us of our sins] Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors.

For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

Today I shall take you through the dozens of prophecies in the Old Testament book of Isaiah alone, foretelling the coming of the Messiah hundreds of years later… Although there are many more prophecies concerning the Messiah throughout the entire Old Testament, I choose to focus on those found in Isaiah.

I will demonstrate in three easy steps how: 1) The book of Isaiah is from at least 100~300 years before Jesus, 2) The book of Isaiah has many prophecies about the Messiah that the New Testmament states Jesus fulfilled, 3) Various evidence attests to the authenticity of the New Testament accounts of Jesus’ life. The Messiah would have the Spirit of Understanding.

He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. The Messiah would be both God and man (the “Mighty God”). The Messiah would be from everlasting (the “Everlasting Father”).

[Jesus was judged unfairly by the court of priests, had no physical children and – in the High Priest’s own words – died for the nation] He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth. The Messiah would be a “stumbling stone” for the Jews.

The Jews would have a hardened heart against the Messiah.

The Messiah would have the Spirit of the Knowledge of God. The Messiah would have the Spirit of the Fear of God. The Messiah would have a quick understanding in the fear of the Lord. The Messiah would not judge on the basis of external representations. The Messiah would judge the poor with righteousness.

Others would rise to life at the resurrection of the Messiah.

The forerunner of the Messiah would live in the wilderness. The forerunner would prepare people for the coming of the Messiah.
